Code of Conduct
We like to have fun, keep things laid-back and positive, but in the interest of keeping our community safe and thriving, we hold certain expectations for behavior in our community.
Expected Behavior
- Be considerate, respectful, patient, collaborative and share the floor.
- Promote education, curiosity and foster a solutions-focused community feel.
- Keep public discussions professional and useful for everyone by staying on-topic.
- Criticism is welcome, but please make sure it’s professional, constructive and contains utility for others.
Unacceptable Behavior
- Disruptive interruptions or sidebars that hijack the group.
- Demonizing or ranting about companies, products or people.
- Public comments or presentations including profanity, nudity, proselytizing, sexualized language, unsolicited sales pitches or expired technical terms with racial or sexual origins.
- Discrimination or disparagement based on age, appearance, physical or mental ability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, nationality or political affiliation.
- Violence, intimidation, stalking, doxxing, harassment, impersonation, trolling, inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention.
Potential Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
At their discretion, volunteer organizers may take any of the following actions in response to reported and observed unacceptable behavior at official events, on online platforms and related social events.
- Public comment to stop and/or request to speak later in private.
- Private written or verbal warning.
- Removal of unacceptable content.
- Temporary suspension from community gatherings and forums.
- Complete removal of content and/or accounts from online communities.
- Permanent suspension from community gatherings and forums.
Release from Liability
In consideration of the risk to injury while participating in our events and online communities, and as consideration for the right to participate, each participant agrees to abide by the Code of Conduct and organizer instructions. By attending events or participating online, each participant agrees and recognizes they’re participating entirely at their own risk, which may include but are not limited to physical or psychological injury, pain, suffering, illness, disfigurement, disability, economic or emotional loss and death. Each participant agrees to waive any right to bring legal action against organizers, venues, community sponsors and volunteers or hold them financially responsible for personal injury or property damage.
